The PAWS-A-WHILE ADOPTION FAIR, supporting the members of the Cape Animal Welfare Forum (CAWF), held a wonderful fundraising market and dog show in De Waal Park, Cape Town on Sunday 3 October to honour World Animal Day.
Over 20 animal welfare organisations, who are all members of CAWF, got together under the cloudy shadow of Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain to promote the adoption of animals and to raise funds for their work.
Hundreds of dogs spent the day socialising and meeting potential new parents, or playing with their families, while others strutted their stuff in the fun and funky dog show.
The City of Cape Town Metro Police rolled out an impressive show of discipline and skill with their sniffer dogs and brilliant handlers, showing off the extraordinary ability of these dogs to work in often dangerous settings to sniff out drugs and bombs.
Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, as well as Africa Melane from Cape Talk, Film Producer Samantha Grey (A Dog for Life, Netflix), Tozie Zokufa (World Animal Day Ambassador for South Africa) and Alderman JP Smith from the City of Cape Town & CAWF Patron, judged dozens of precious pooches who entered the fun categories of the dog show including the Most Drop Dead Gorgeous Gal, the Trickster and the Best Ears in Show categories.
CAWF members send a huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success and we will definitely be hosting a similar event in aid of World Animal Day in 2022.
