CAWF sends grateful thanks to the City of Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, for the gift of R1m towards sterilisation of animals belonging to indigent communities around Cape Town in 2025.  A total of 1807 dogs and cats as well as 20 horses living in underprivileged areas were sterilised, thus preventing the continued breeding of unwanted animals, and preventing the spread of Zoonotic disease.

It is inspiring and encouraging to know that Cape Town’s local Government understands that an investment in the health and welfare of animals within poverty stricken communities is seen as an investment in the overall health of the people too.   Pet owners rejoice when they are able to access welfare care for their pets, and it is a privilege for CAWF to be the conduit for the animal welfare process to take place.
