The Western Cape Government hosted a whole day Animal Welfare Summit together with CAWF on 16 September 2026 at Elsenberg near Stellenbosch. The Summit presented key topics by representatives from CAWF members, The Humane Education Trust, as well as CAWF Patron, Alderman JP Smith. Critical issues related to addressing a wide range of challenges prevalent in the animal welfare sector were presented. Negotiations will continue to bring animal welfare topics to Government officials, with more talks expected in coming months.
